1When the seventh month came, and the children of Israel were in the towns, the people gathered as one man to Jerusalem.到了七月,以色列人住在各城;那时他们如同一人,聚集在耶路撒冷。
2 Then arose Jeshua the son of Jozadak, with his fellow priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel with his kinsmen, and they built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God. 约萨达的儿子耶书亚和他的弟兄众祭司,并撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯与他的弟兄,都起来建筑以色列神的坛,要照神人摩西律法书上所写的,在坛上献燔祭。
3They set the altar in its place, for fear was on them because of the peoples of the lands, and they offered burnt offerings on it to the LORD, burnt offerings morning and evening.他们在原有的根基上筑坛,因惧怕邻国的民,又在其上向耶和华早晚献燔祭。
4And they keptthe Feast of Booths, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number according to the rule, as each day required, 又照律法书上所写的守住棚节,按数照例献每日所当献的燔祭。
5and after that the regular burnt offerings, the offerings at the new moon and at all the appointed feasts of the LORD, and the offerings of everyone who made a freewill offering to the LORD. 其后献常献的燔祭,并在月朔与耶和华的一切圣节献祭,又向耶和华献各人的甘心祭。
6From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid. 从七月初一日起,他们就向耶和华献燔祭。但耶和华殿的根基尚未立定。
(二)预备建造圣殿 3:7-9 1.百姓积极预备建造圣殿的材料。 3:7 7So they gave money to the masons and the carpenters, and food, drink, and oil to the Sidonians and the Tyrians to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea, to Joppa, according to the grant that they had from Cyrus king of Persia. 他们又将银子给石匠、木匠,把粮食、酒、油给西顿人、泰尔人,使他们将香柏树从黎巴嫩运到海里,浮海运到约帕,是照波斯王古列所允准的。
2.隔年的二月二日开始建造圣殿,并且派遣利未人监工。 3:8-9 8Now in the second year after their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak made a beginning, together with the rest of their kinsmen, the priests and the Levites and all who had come to Jerusalem from the captivity. They appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to supervise the work of the house of the LORD.百姓到了耶路撒冷神殿的地方。第二年二月,撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯,约萨达的儿子耶书亚和其余的弟兄,就是祭司、利未人,并一切被掳归回耶路撒冷的人,都兴工建造;又派利未人,从二十岁以外的,督理建造耶和华殿的工作。
「二月」:西元前536年四、五月间,所罗门王也在这个月开始建造圣殿。 王上 6:1
9And Jeshua with his sons and his brothers, and Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together supervised the workmen in the house of God, along with the sons of Henadad and the Levites, their sons and brothers. 于是犹大(在二章四十节作何达威雅)的后裔,就是耶书亚和他的子孙与弟兄,甲篾和他的子孙,利未人希拿达的子孙与弟兄,都一同起来,督理那在神殿做工的人。
10And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, the priests in their vestments came forward with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise the LORD, according to the directions of David king of Israel.匠人立耶和华殿根基的时候,祭司皆穿礼服吹号,亚萨的子孙利未人敲钹,照以色列王大卫所定的例,都站着赞美耶和华。
11And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the LORD, “For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever toward Israel.” And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid. 他们彼此唱和,赞美称谢耶和华说:他本为善,他向以色列人永发慈爱。他们赞美耶和华的时候,众民大声呼喊,因耶和华殿的根基已经立定。
12But many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers’ houses, old men who had seen the first house, wept with a loud voice when they saw the foundation of this house being laid, though many shouted aloud for joy, 然而有许多祭司、利未人、族长,就是见过旧殿的老年人,现在亲眼看见立这殿的根基,便大声哭号,也有许多人大声欢呼。
13so that the people could not distinguish the sound of the joyful shout from the sound of the people’s weeping, for the people shouted with a great shout, and the sound was heard far away. 甚至百姓不能分辨欢呼的声音和哭号的声音;因为众人大声呼喊,声音听到远处。
